The Association of Fundraising Professionals Palm Beach County Chapter Announces 2009 Award Recipients
October 13, 2009 - More than 50,000 people across North America will celebrate the 23rd anniversary of National Philanthropy Day® throughout November as a way of reminding the public about the importance of giving and volunteering, especially during difficult economic times. Palm Beach County will once again share in the celebration of National Philanthropy Day® by paying tribute to the extraordinary contributions that charitable giving and volunteerism have made to society.
First celebrated in 1986, National Philanthropy Day® began with a presidential proclamation from Ronald Reagan. Celebrities such as Bob Hope have served as National Philanthropy Day® spokespersons.
This year’s recipients will be honored Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts. Presenting Sponsor of this year’s event is The Merrill Lynch Center for Philanthropy & Nonprofit Management.
