AFP Youth in Philanthropy Award in Memory of Suzanne Foley

The Pathfinder High School Scholarship Awards are presented each year to those high school seniors in Palm Beach and Martin counties who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in 18 academic, vocational and athletic categories.  Pathfinders is sponsored by Palm Beach Newspapers, Inc., publisher of The Palm Beach Post, Palm Beach Daily News, Florida Pennysaver and La Palma.  These awards are presented each year to recognize excellence and to encourage these students to one day bring their considerable talents to the communities where each received a start on the path to a good education and a rewarding career.

In 2009, the Palm Beach Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals lost a dear friend and Board member, Suzanne Foley, to cancer.  Suzanne was a true role model in the fundraising profession.  She was a woman full of grace and enthusiasm to give back to others.  To honor her commitment to our profession, our Board instituted the Association of Fundraising Professionals Youth in Philanthropy Award in Memory of Suzanne Foley to be given to a graduating high school senior who had demonstrated results in meeting the needs of the community outside of school.  During the 2009 Pathfinder High School Scholarship Award Ceremony, the Palm Beach Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals gave the Association of Fundraising Professionals Youth in Philanthropy Award in Memory of Suzanne Foley to Sam Morales for his outstanding work throughout our community.  Sam graduated from Cardinal Newman High School in June 2009 and now attends Florida State University.
